A Taste of New York! RLA with James Zeller, trombone/vocals Trinidad Town hall July 17, 2026 @ 7:30 pm
Sink into an evening of rich, sophisticated jazz filled with lyrical melodies, warm grooves, and inspired improvisation as RLA is joined by featured artist James Zeller.
Trombonist/vocalist James Zeller spent 17 formative years immersed in New York’s vibrant jazz scene, refining his artistry while performing alongside Wynton Marsalis, Slide Hampton, Joe Chambers, Billy Nemec, and Jimmy Heath. He has performed with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, the Blue Vipers of Brooklyn, and the Village Vanguard Orchestra, and appeared at iconic venues including The Blue Note and The Jazz Standard.
RLA features Tim Randles (piano), Ken Lawrence (bass), and Mike LaBolle (drums), bringing together an evening of elegant, expressive jazz with masterful interplay and timeless swing.

Down the street, the Trinidad Civic Clubroom features the underwater photography of Sophia Buell, and passing through to Trinidad Town Hall you will find Rueben Mayes showing his abstract art, as duo Mike Craghead and Sari Baker perform their original songs and other favorites!
Ryan Roberts and friends will perform in front of Trinidad Art Gallery where an artist’s reception takes place for silk painter Amanita Mollier and jeweler Susan Kohl. Head to the Trinidad Bay Eatery to see the photography of Carolyn Belak, or eat Oysters. At Moonstone Crossing you will find driftwood art by Tara Miller, in their cozy wine tasting room and down by the bay you can hear The Miracle Show as you check out the vendors at Seascape Restaurant. TRINIDAD MUSEUM 400 Janis Court, Trinidad, CA 95570 Exhibit: “Moonstone” Photographs from the Lois Smith, Genia Garibaldi and Howard, Thelma and Gregg Moore Collections depict the Mermaid Inn (1914) on Moonstone Beach along with early stores and homes through the decades at Moonstone Beach, Moonstone Heights and Westhaven. Maps diagramming entrepreneur Norman Smith’s early 1900s vision of “$100 Lots in Westhaven” are part of the exhibit. The Heritage Room features a just-installed exhibit showing 150 years of the Humboldt County Pioneers Society with images and documents of Humboldt’s first non-indigenous settlers. Milton J. Phlegley is the curator. This exhibit will come down after Trinidad Art Night so be sure to enjoy it now. Jonah Gilles is museum host.

EVENT INFORMATION STATION Featured Artist: Sophia Buell is a photographer and high-adrenaline athlete who merges her passions by capturing images underwater, on cliffs, and in the sky. Her most engaging nature photography stems from her love of Pacific Coast marine life. Recently, she has begun combining her 3D printing hobby with her photography to create unique light boxes.

Carita Dooley, museum board of directions member and art teacher at Freshwater School, curated the exhibit with Alexandra Cox.”Trinidad Whaling Station 1920-1927″ is the new Heritage Room exhibit curated by Cal-Poly Intern Jonah Gilles. Westhaven Center for the Arts presents: Mallet Mastery, with Matt McClimon and RLAD! Trinidad Town Hall Friday, May 15, 2026 @ 7:30 p.m.
Matt directs the concert and jazz bands at the Fortuna and Toddy Thomas Middle Schools and leads the jazz ensemble of the 191st Army Band. With a BA from HSU in Performance, a BME from University of Louisville and MM in jazz studies from the University of New Orlean, he has performed with many fine musicians over the years such as: Caroline Davis, Davy Mooney, Brian Seeger, Ed Peterson, James Singleton, and Quin Kirchner

Here are a few highlights: the full schedule will be available at the Trinidad Civic Club’s Unique Boutique, which is open 12 am – 8 pm in the clubroom, with lots of fun items to browse, while the music of Mike Craghead & Jeff Smoller wafts in from the Town hall, where Antoinette (Toni) Magyar will be painting.
The Zack Miles band will be down at the harbor along with vendors next to the Seascape restaurant and be sure to check out the Trinidad Museum’s exhibit “Shaped & Woven-Enduring Connections with Stone, Fiber & Beadwork” which includes some new acquisitions to the museum’s collection. “Trinidad Whaling Station 1920-1927” is the new Heritage Room exhibit, curated by Cal-Poly Intern Jonah Gilles.
Also the Trinidad Eatery is presenting children’s art along with Trinidad Schools Education Foundation, known as TSEF. The foundation promotes drama, gardening, music and art, and you can support the foundation with a purchase as you listen to the school band; each piece is $50 each and 100% of the proceeds go to the program. Music: Singer-songwriter Mike Craghead joins Jeff Smoller, guitar, in their first foray as a duo. Mike is a local singer songwriter and original member of Dr. Squid. His distinctive voice and guitar style have moved audiences to sheer joy. Jeff is a rock, jazz and swing guitarist best known as a solo event guitarist and accompanist.

A Stellar Night of Sinatra and Bennett with Brad Curtis! March 20th, 2026 7:30 p.m. @ Trinidad Town Hall
RLA joins with special guest Gary Lewis, flute and saxophone, to bring to you this amazing program of the music of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Brad’s exceptional talents are diverse and well-honed! For 18 yrs. he worked in Seattle as professional actor, singer (baritone) and voice-over artist. Locally works with Humboldt Light Opera, Northcoast Rep and Ferndale Rep, was News Anchor at News Channel 3 and disc jockey for KINS/KEKA. RLA is Tim Randles. piano, Ken Lawrence, electric bass, and Mike LaBolle, drums.
