Trinidad Art Nights

This event features Ticket to Ride at Saunders Park East Bandstand. This town-wide walk includes a variety of art exhibits, live music, artist receptions, face painting, skate ramps, pop-up sales, and oyster, cider, or wine tastings. Call 707-834-2479, or visit trinidadartnight.com.

Here are a few highlights: the full schedule will be available at the Trinidad Civic Club’s Unique Boutique, which is open 12 am – 8 pm in the clubroom, with lots of fun items to browse, while the music of Mike Craghead & Jeff Smoller wafts in from the Town hall, where Antoinette (Toni) Magyar will be painting.
The Zack Miles band will be down at the harbor along with vendors next to the Seascape restaurant and be sure to check out the Trinidad Museum’s exhibit “Shaped & Woven-Enduring Connections with Stone, Fiber & Beadwork” which includes some new acquisitions to the museum’s collection. “Trinidad Whaling Station 1920-1927” is the new Heritage Room exhibit, curated by Cal-Poly Intern Jonah Gilles.
Also the Trinidad Eatery is presenting children’s art along with Trinidad Schools Education Foundation, known as TSEF. The foundation promotes drama, gardening, music and art, and you can support the foundation with a purchase as you listen to the school band; each piece is $50 each and 100% of the proceeds go to the program. Trinidad Art Gallery will celebrate the work of photographer and felt artist Christine Connerly, oil painter Howdy Emerson, and musician JD Jeffries with an opening reception on Saturday April 25th from 5-8 pm. Enjoy snacks, and a wine pour benefiting Trinidad Coastal Land Trust, live harp music by Howdy Emerson, and an opportunity to meet many of the gallery’s 25 local artists.

Exhibit: The Lighthouse Grill features the work of local photographer, scientist and educator Dan Wells. This exhibit highlights images from Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park which seek to capture the way the trees connect and take care of their own. Also available are prints, note cards, and books by Susan Mayclin Stephenson and Jeff Stanley.

Exhibit: “Shaped & Woven-Enduring Connections with Stone, Fiber & Beadwork”. The exhibit includes caps, baskets, jewelry, stone implements, regalia and two model redwood canoes from the museum’s permanent collections and new acquisitions. Carita Dooley, museum board of directions member and art teacher at Freshwater School, curated the exhibit with Alexandra Cox.”Trinidad Whaling Station 1920-1927″ is the new Heritage Room exhibit curated by Cal-Poly Intern Jonah Gilles. The original California Sea Products log and photos of the construction of the station at the harbor are included in the exhibit.

Music: Singer-songwriter Mike Craghead joins Jeff Smoller, guitar, in their first foray as a duo. Mike is a local singer songwriter and original member of Dr. Squid. His distinctive voice and guitar style have moved audiences to sheer joy. Jeff is a rock, jazz and swing guitarist best known as a solo event guitarist and accompanist.

Exhibit: The infinite beauty of nature is what inspires the art of Zak Shea. the exhibit features Zak’s art that brings materials back to life, salvaging discarded wood scraps from construction sites and recycling old-growth wood which was headed for the landfill found wood.
Wine tasting: Pick from a variety of Moonstone Crossing wines hand-crafted in small quantities using traditional-style winemaking techniques. Enjoy tasting, with snacks or Dick Taylor chocolates.
SEASCAPE RESTAURANT AND PIER

Music: 5-8 pm Zack Miles Band: Zack Miles (vocals/guitar), Aaron Green (drums/vocals), Cody Vallot (guitar), and John Redfield (bass) Their songs blend acoustic-driven rock with touches of country and soul, creating a sound that feels warm, familiar, and real.

A Stellar Night of Sinatra and Bennett with Brad Curtis!

RLA joins with special guest Gary Lewis, flute and saxophone, to bring to you this amazing program of the music of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Brad’s exceptional talents are diverse and well-honed! For 18 yrs. he worked in Seattle as professional actor, singer (baritone) and voice-over artist. Locally works with Humboldt Light Opera, Northcoast Rep and Ferndale Rep, was News Anchor at News Channel 3 and disc jockey for KINS/KEKA. RLA is Tim Randles. piano, Ken Lawrence, electric bass, and Mike LaBolle, drums.
