What’s New at WCA?

If you have driven by Westhaven Center for the Arts recently, you may have noticed a few changes, and indeed we have much to report, including exciting and fortuitous news!

Residencies: Our past Artist in Residence, Toni Magyar and partner Matt Brody have connected with the wonderful WCA space as their temporary home. This arrangement will allow WCA to return when it is safe for us to present public events, and we are very thankful for this opportunity for us to continue to serve our community in the future!

Changing of the Guard:  After 5 years volunteering as WCA’s director, Dr. Roy King has stepped down from his position. WCA is grateful for this time Roy spent as director and appreciate his unique contributions, including his nature based spirituality group ‘Gaia’s Love’, a Mental Health Awareness Fair, his exploration of Outsider Art and expanding programs for a younger set of members. The board is accepting resumes for a new director, and Jolianne Einem is Acting Director as of October 1st, 2020.

More Change Afoot: We also say goodbye to Nick Frank, Treasurer, who has recently resigned, and we welcome two new board members: Claudia Murray, Membership Coordinator, and Eric Einem, in a new position of Volunteer Coordinator.

WCA goes Virtual: Please Volunteer! We have decided it is time for some online events, first of which will be Fourth Friday Flicks, and an Online Dance Party! Perhaps a Holiday Open House and virtual tours!. Keep your eyes open on fb and email. We think it is important for us to offer opportunities to connect. So, if you would like to be more involved, have technical skills, or ideas about things you would like us to support as part of an online opportunity, you can still volunteer and be part of the team! Call 707-834-2479.

Membership Drive: Our annual Spring Fling fundraiser and 2020 Membership Drive were cancelled due to Covid, but we humbly ask for your continued support if you are able. We still have expenses and projects for which we will need funds, and we are very excited to apply ourselves to some outdoor projects and preparations for an even better future!

Here is a musical selection for you to enjoy!
